Tour operators are waiting for Russian guests in Turkey and do not forecast cancellations

Tour operators in Turkey expect a successful season and claim that after the devastating earthquake customers will not cancel their tours, RIA Novosti was informed by profile organizations.

“Some hotels, which did not accommodate earthquake victims, have been open since March 1. Beginning from the Novruz holiday, starting from March 21, the share of working hotels will reach 30 percent,” Assistant to the Head of the Alanya Tourist Operators’ Association (ALTID) Khizir Bozdogan told RIA Novosti.
The organization includes about 500 hotels.

“We do not expect tour cancellations, on the contrary, we expect an increase in demand from Russian travelers. The season will be successful,” Bozdogan noted.

According to a source at the Manavgat Resort Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MATSO), most hotels in the resort will start accepting European clients from March 15.

“We are not recording any tour cancellations. According to our expectations, this season will be successful,” the agency’s interlocutor noted.

Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 at intervals of nine hours in the province of Kahramanmarash in southeast Turkey. The aftershocks, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in 11 provinces of the country and neighboring countries, including Syria. The number of victims exceeded 45 thousand people, the authorities said that it was the unprecedented “catastrophe of the century”.
